Talbooth House & Spa is a stylish and iconic country house hotel that offers the most picturesque, peaceful and intimate of wedding venues in Colchester. The hotel and grounds are the perfect size for up to 40 wedding guests and provide the ultimate backdrop for a very special day with your closest friends and family.

The hotel lends itself to a house party wedding, allowing the bridal couple, family and friends to take over the whole hotel exclusively for the night (or two), weekend weddings are also very popular at the moment.

We Love Weddings

Talbooth House & Spa is a luxurious 12 bedroom hotel, with pool house spa, stunning grounds and tennis court. The house sits on the edge of Dedham Vale, overlooking the beautiful landscape which inspired Constable’s famous paintings.

Preparation Is Key

The Milsom Weddings team are here to be as involved as you need us to be. Preparation is everything, and from your first viewing to the final dance we’ll be working tirelessly on every detail.

Be Pampered

We have six treatment rooms available for the bridal party to be pampered on the morning of your wedding, including manicures, facials and wedding makeup.

This is your day and we make sure that you have it your way, whether you’re marrying at a nearby church or in our lounge at the hotel.

Time For Fizz

Now you’ve tied the knot it’s time to celebrate and chat with your guests with a drink and canapé reception by the fire, pool (if taking exclusive use of the spa) or in the garden.

Sunset Cocktails and Speeches

If you haven’t had the spa exclusively all day you can make the most of the space during the summer months in the early evening. Retire to the pool house for laid-back drinks and a DJ set as you watch the sun go down by the water. This lovely location is ideal for hosting your speeches, cake cutting ceremony or greeting your evening guests.

The Party!

A wedding really should be a wonderful and memorable party and we’ll be there to make sure that happens. Our intimate space provides the perfect atmosphere for the evening’s celebrations, and after a drink and a dance your guests can refuel with our great selection of evening food options either on the terrace or in the lounge depending on the time of year.

What A Wonderful Day

Once you’ve dined and danced into the night the wedding party can simply fall into bed in one of our luxury bedrooms. A group brilliant breakfast buffet at Milsoms the following morning makes for a splendid start to married life. Who knows, there might even be time for a quick dip in the pool before you say your goodbyes!

How to get here

Come and visit Talbooth House & Spa to truly appreciate its beauty.

Located in the beautiful Essex countryside, just outside Colchester, this fabulous Dedham hotel is less than 5 miles from Manningtree train station.

If travelling from London, turn off the M25 at Brentwood onto A12. Continue on A12 towards Ipswich, bypassing Colchester.

Take the left exit signposted “Stratford St Mary, Dedham and Higham.” For Talbooth House & Spa, turn right at the bottom of the hill to Dedham, over the bridge and the hotel is approx 300yds along on the right.

Leave Ipswich on the A12 and when you pass the sign to East Bergholt, continue down hill and take left exit to Stratford St Mary and Dedham. Then take the next right turn to Stratford St Mary.

For Talbooth House & Spa, continue past Talbooth Restaurant, take the next left to Dedham, over the bridge and Talbooth House & Spa is approx. 300yds on the right.

If travelling from Colchester High Street, continue onto East Hill and over the mini roundabout to East Street before turning left at the next mini roundabout onto Ipswich Road. At the next roundabout, take the first exit, then the second exit onto the A1232, signposted Harwich A120. Continue along this road until merging onto the A12, signposted Ipswich.

After 2.5 miles, branch left then merge onto Ipswich Road. In half a mile, bear right onto Gun Hill. At the bottom of the hill turn right to Dedham, over the bridge and the hotel is approx 300yds along on the right.
