Anna & Cameron Wedding Moments Q&A

Why did you choose Talbooth Restaurant?

We’ve long been fans of Milsom Hotels & Restaurants, and have dined across the various restaurants many times and never been disappointed. We’ve also attended numerous Milsom Events and have always been so impressed with the service and quality of the food and drink, so it was an obvious choice for our wedding day. The location of Talbooth Restaurant was also a big factor – the riverside setting is stunning and the fact that we’re local and so were able to hold our ceremony in our village church was also a plus.

The wedding morning

The bridal party got ready at Idle Waters Cottage, which was the perfect space, and lovely to have Talbooth Restaurant as the backdrop to all the preparations. We were driven to the church in a classic car – a very special touch as it belonged to a family friend – and then we arrived by boat at Talbooth Restaurant. Not many of our guests were aware that we would be arriving by boat, so it was really lovely to see their reactions as we appeared down the river!

The ceremony

We had our wedding ceremony at Ardleigh Church – we live in Ardleigh, and the church is just around the corner from our house, so it felt like the perfect place to have our wedding ceremony.

The wedding breakfast

Crab ravioli, mouli spaghetti, tomato and shellfish sauce

Breast of Guinea Fowl and confit duck leg croquette, thyme glazed fondant potato. King Oyster mushroom, asparagus, truffle and chive sauce.

Glazed passion fruit cheesecake meringue, coconut sorbet and passion fruit curd.

This menu includes bespoke dishes.

The evening food

Paella, Chicken Souvlaki & Hot Dogs! The evening food went down really well and it was great for people to have a mix of dishes to choose from.

The finer details

We decided early on that we wanted to keep things classic, so went for a colour scheme of whites, creams and greens. The flower arrangements, created by Tudor Rose, perfectly complimented the colour scheme, alongside our sage green napkins and limewash chairs. We were so happy with how the marquee looked, and were really impressed with all the suppliers we worked with – many of whom we met at the Milsom Weddings Open Day.

Most memorable part of the day

It’s hard to choose just one part! Arriving at the venue by boat trip along the River Stour with our guests lining the river bank was a fabulous experience. The wedding breakfast was stunning – it was lovely to have all of our friends and family together to celebrate with us, and we received so many fantastic comments on the wedding breakfast, with many guests telling us it was the best food they’d had at a wedding. Ending the night with all of our guests on the dance floor for a roaring rendition of Sweet Caroline also won’t be forgotten for a long time!

Top planning tip

Organisation is key! There’s so much to do when planning a wedding, but ensuring you’re organised and have a clear plan for what needs to be done ensures the process is far less stressful. But, most importantly, enjoy it!
