Fraser & Emily's Wedding Moments Q&A

Why did you choose Talbooth Restaurant?

The setting and location – you cannot beat it. We live in the local area and considered other wedding venues, but nothing came close. The food was also a very important element to us and we knew Talbooth Restaurant has a brilliant reputation for its cooking, which absolutely did not disappoint – we had so many compliments from our guests on the quality of the cooking, and still do to this day.

The wedding morning

The bridal party stayed at Idle Waters Cottage opposite Talbooth Restaurant, which was the best decision. I woke up at 5.00am, which I imagine most brides do, but I was able to enjoy a cup of tea, looking across the river at the marquee and thinking about the day to come. Then, as the day started, and we were getting our hair and make-up done, we could watch the marquee being set up which was so exciting!

The ceremony

We decided to hold the ceremony in the River Room at Talbooth Restaurant – the riverside location was absolutely stunning and the intimate setting was perfect for our 80 guests.

The wedding breakfast

Talbooth smoked salmon, citrus créme fraîche, herb oil, pickled fennel, caviar and dill dressing.

Whole roasted fillet of aged British beef, thyme rosti potato, spinach, asparagus, bacon and mushroom sauce.

Raspberry ripple cheesecake, raspberry puree, marinated raspberries, meringue and vanilla ice-cream.

The evening food

We had an incredible hog roast, which was extremely popular!

The finer details

We wanted to let the natural beauty of the venue speak for itself, so kept our décor very simple. For our flowers, we worked with Amanda Steward – a brilliant local florist, who knows the venue and the team very well. We had lots of gypsophila and twinkly fairy lights in the ceiling, which looked magical.

Most memorable part of your day

The best part, by far, was the boat trip we had right after we said ‘I Do’. As soon as we walked up the aisle, we walked straight onto the boat with a glass of fizz waiting for us. It was just the perfect 10 minutes to breathe and spend some time alone together before the excitement of the day to come.

Top planning tip

Try to enjoy it as much as possible! That can sometimes be challenging, but, honestly, looking back on it now, it was such a fun time!
