Milsom Weddings

Planning to have your wedding day at work may sound like the most unusual dream. Being in the hospitality industry does mean we spend the majority of our time at work as it is, so why would we choose to spend what history states as the ‘most important day of our lives’ at work too?

Yet, time and time again I find my wedding enquiry form has one of my colleagues’ names on it. There is only one reason to explain this…we really are #thebestinthebusiness. Excuse the arrogance of this statement, but our enthusiastic and hardworking staff see every aspect of the business: from the suppliers bringing in the produce right through to our smiling front of house team who serve the delicious wedding breakfast. Therefore, a huge proportion of our staff at Milsom Hotels do select one of our wedding venues for their own wedding day.

Here some of the team tell you why…get ready for all the feels.

Outside catering – Mr & Mrs Robson
Event’s Coordinator, Keighley Robson & Head Chef at The Pier, Stephen Robson

Keighley and Stevie got married in 2016 in a marquee (by the same company that provides our famous marquee here at Le Talbooth) in Keighley’s parents’ garden. Milsom Catering of course provided the delicious food, and lots of wine!

“We dined on a bespoke cured sea trout starter followed by sirloin of beef with a traditional Talbooth Chateaubriand garnish, the finale was the deconstructed lemon and raspberry meringue pie. We decided to have Milsom Catering for our wedding because we wouldn’t trust anyone else to do the job. We wanted to leave it to the professionals; we see their work every day and had 100% confidence that they would deliver the same for our special day too.”

Maison Talbooth
Outside Catering Head Chef, Geoff Johnson & Head Chef at Milsoms, Sarah Norman

Geoff and Sarah’s wedding day was a fantastic family filled celebration. The couple simply wanted to gather their nearest and dearest, at a venue they could truly make their own.

“We chose Maison Talbooth as it’s the perfect intimate venue, we all felt totally relaxed and at home there. Before the day I decided I was going to keep to traditions for the ceremony and not turn around when Sarah walked into the Garden Room. But as soon as she entered the registrar gasped “Geoff, you don’t want to miss this, turn around, she is looking absolutely beautiful!” So I did, and it was my favourite memory of the day.”

Le Talbooth – Mr & Mrs Carr
Events Coordinator, Alex Carr

Alex and Gareth enjoyed their special day in stunning surroundings at Le Talbooth’s Marquee (of course!) in June 2011.

“We had some rain in the morning but it cleared in perfect time for our drinks reception on the lawn. The food was beautiful, we served a salmon starter followed by beef Wellington and a trio of desserts. Having the beef presented by our longest ever serving chef of 60 years Terry was so memorable for me and special for our guests.”

As the only singleton left in our events office, when I am asked “Where would you get married Alice?” I can firmly and a little embarrassingly say, I actually have the whole big day planned out. I am check list ready!

  • Wedding venue – Ceremony in the River Room followed by dancing and plenty of drinking in Le Talbooth’s stylish marquee
  • Drinks reception – Champagne and Aperol Spritz served with loads of delicious canapés
  • Wedding breakfast – Beef Wellington
  • Lighting & DJ – Dreamwave events (obviously!)
  • Photographer – D&A
  • Videographer – MyFilm (click here to see one of her dreamy wedding videos)

So really the only detail left remaining is… find the lucky man!
