1. Add the personal touch
A smaller guest list gives you the opportunity to make your wedding unique, personal and a true reflection of you. From a boutique venue to an abundance of flowers, or our chefs creating a menu you’ve always dreamed of. Look at the details of the day and enjoy making them reflect you as a couple.
2. Intimate dining experiences
Champagne and canapes for 150 guests may be too extravagant, but for 15 people it becomes something you can include. Use the smaller guest count as an opportunity to create a bespoke menu, whether that’s layering in extra courses with delicious cheese and mezze boards, or put a twist on your favourite dish. Have fun with the wine selection too, The Milsom Wedding team can help you pair dishes with wine to enhance your dining experience, and we have an extensive wine list to enjoy.
3. Wedding Weekends
With a weekend-long celebration, couples can plan more of an experience for their wedding guests. Whether that is exploring the surrounding countryside or simply spending the day unwinding at the hotel. The spa at Milsoms Kesgrave Hall is a haven of relaxation, your wedding guests can enjoy a range of treatments or just have a dip in the outside hot tub. If you would like a little more activity, Maison Talbooth has an excellent tennis court that overlooks the outdoor pool (which is heated all year round!) or alternatively explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, our bistro restaurants are perfect for a leisurely lunch after a long walk. A smaller wedding party enables you to think of your guests experience from start to finish, or in other words from check-in to check-out.
4. Support Local Suppliers
In 2021, we’re predicting more couples will choose to support the UK’s phenomenal network of suppliers, bridal boutiques and independent businesses. At Milsom Weddings we have developed relationships with an enviable list of local wedding suppliers, from florist to photographers, couples can choose to invest in quality suppliers closer to home.
5. Opt for the outdoors
We are great believers of the great outdoors. The Milsom Wedding venues are surrounded by stunning countryside and open spaces to take advantage of. There is something enchanting about choosing a drink reception amongst the woodland at Milsoms Kesgrave and saying ‘I do’ poolside at Maison Talbooth is truly unique.
6. Party later
Couples will continue to host incredibly stylish, nothing-spared, smaller events, and then throw a killer anniversary celebration when time allows with all their family and friends. Click here to find out more about our ‘Marry now, party later’ package.
7. Include your four-legged friend
We recognise that some of you will want to have your furry friends be witness to your wedding day, include them in your wedding photographs or even as a dog ring bearer (plus dogs don’t count in your wedding guest numbers!). We recommend the dog chaperone wedding service Amanda’s Ark.
8. Reimagine guest seating
Create a living room feel for an intimate wedding ceremony. The Lounge at Maison Talbooth has a combination of armchairs and sofas, creating a relaxed informal vibe. This way you can keep family units and ‘social bubbles’ together.
9. Stray a little from tradition
Whether you want to include time-honoured traditions or not, that’s for you to decide. Shake up the speeches by giving a joint speech or have an open mic-style moment. Walk down the aisle together or forget about the first dance. You don’t always have to obey the traditional etiquette rule book, we can run your day exactly how you want for an excitingly memorable day together.
